Today, School Council representatives visited the Key Project in South Shields to deliver the food that we have collected. Thank you to all families who have donated items.
This morning Year 3 paid their respect to all of the fallen soldiers who have died in conflict since the First World War. We laid stones which we had painted with Mrs KG in the shape of a poppy.
May they rest in peace.
Teaching our children about the significance of Remembrance Day and why people wear a poppy is not always an easy thing to do.
Today in class we watched a short animation produced by CBeebies. It is simply entitled ‘Poppies’ and helps to convey the notion of remembrance in a way that would resonate with a young audience.
After watching this we decided to make our own poppies to help us remember. Later in the day we took our poppies to the prayer wall in our prayer garden and placed a painted stone on the poppy made by all our friends in school.
Congratulations to our new school buddies 2017-2018
This year our buddies will be very busy organising playground games and termly inter house playground competitions. They will also be there as pupil support at play and lunch times ensuring that friendship is at the centre of our play. Well done buddies I’m looking forward to working with you this year. Yesterday we were learning about Judaism. We welcomed Deanna into our school and we were very lucky to spend time with her learning about the creation story and about a very special, holy day in their week. Tonight we will be bringing home our very special glasses. Ask us about these glasses and why we use them.
Today Year 3 learned about St. Paul’s letter to the Colossians. They had to interpret what we have to do to be a Holy People.
We used imovie and camera to help us make our own trailers to show how we can be Holy People.
Yesterday the Rise Theatre Company visited school. Years 5 and 6 participated in workshops and the whole school enjoyed a play about Oscar Romero. The key messages were YOU MATTER and LOVE NEVER GIVES UP.
This morning our school’s Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy went to the Town Hall to witness the unveiling of a memorial bench for Liam Curry and Chloe Rutherford. They represented our school beautifully on this very special occasion. They all enjoyed a well deserved treat afterwards.
The results are in a big congratulations to
Head Girl– Lauren
Head Boy — Charlie
